Benjawbski Designs is a small, home-based woodworking studio located on Leisure Island in Knysna - a coastal town renowned for its indigenous forests, tidal lagoon, and natural beauty.

What began in early 2025 as a new chapter following Ant Evans' Parkinson's diagnosis has grown into a small but very personal woodworking studio. When kayaking was no longer possible, wood became both focus and freedom - a material through which resilience, creativity, and purpose could take shape.

The adaptation soon became passion, and today each creation reflects that journey: resilience shaped into form, purpose crafted into function. No factory production lines. No outsourcing. Just one piece at a time, made with pride.

Our brand name came from founder Ant's nickname "Benjawbski". He is also affectionately called "Whiskey".

Ant's wife, Kerry, supports the studio through wood sourcing, hardware selection, and marketing. Together they ensure that each product is not only practical, but thoughtfully presented and personally delivered or dispatched.

We primarily work with Indigenous African Hardwoods, chosen for their strength, grain character, and warmth. Natural variations in tone and figure are not imperfections - they are reminders that real wood tells its own story.

At Benjawbski Designs, we don't aim for mass perfection. We aim for honest craftsmanship, enduring quality, and pieces that feel good to own.

Location: Our business is proudly based on Leisure Island in Knysna, a breathtakingly beautiful coastal town in the Western Cape, South Africa. Well known for its iconic Heads, tidal lagoon, surrounding indigenous and commercial forests and of course, daily inspiration!
Product Care: All our charcuterie boards and food trays are finished with TopOil from Osmo, a premium, food-safe finish that protects the wood while enhancing its natural beauty.

Our other products are coated with an all-purpose sealer which penetrates and nourishes the wood at the same time.
