Wooden Charcuterie Boards by Benjawbski Designs

Charcuterie Boards

Benjawbski Designs makes wooden charcuterie boards and beautiful serving boards, crafted from indigenous woods from Africa.

Our charcuterie boards vary greatly in dimensions, shape, decorative and utilitarian touches and wood, including Wild Olive, YellowWood, Kiaat, Knysna Blackwood or French Oak. No two serving boards are ever alike. Some have bees, insects or animals attached, some have holes with leather bands looped through and some have 72mm holes for inserting small condiment bowls or ramekins to sit securely within the board when serving (ramekins from Maxwell & Williams & Le Creuset fit well).

Tending to be heavy, all our Boards have thinner ends for easy lifting off flat surfaces. Each board comes with felt or rubber feet to prevent scratches.

Everyday Use: designed for serving cheeses, breads, and charcuterie. Light cutting is fine. Natural knife marks and grain variations are normal and part of the board's character.

Product Care

How to care for a Benjawbski Charcuterie Board:

  • Cleaning:
Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed, then dry immediately. Do not soak, place in a dishwasher, or use harsh chemicals.
  • Storage:
Store flat or ideally upright in a dry area. Avoid direct heat, sunlight, ovens, braais or heaters. Some natural movement of wood may occur.
  • Maintenance:
Re-oil occasionally with Osmo TopOil (every 1-3 months based on use). Apply a thin coat, wipe off excess oil and allow to dry overnight. Buff with a clean cloth if a light sheen is desired. If Osmo TopOil is not available, use a food-grade mineral oil or a mineral oil and beeswax board conditioner. Avoid cooking oils as they may become rancid.

"I am delighted with my new wooden Charcuterie Board. Made from wild olive wood, it was sanded down until smooth and the rich, beautiful grain appeared. Anthony is a superb craftsman. The two bees on the side of the board are an added bonus."

- DS, Cape Town

"Whiskey (Ant) also creates stunning coat racks and charcuterie boards that carry the same thoughtful design and exceptional workmanship."
